E. Martyn Griffen versus Alpha Phi Alpha
Plaintiff E. Martyn Griffen, a University of Pennsylvania student, aspired to become [*2] a member the Psi Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha, Inc., while in his junior year of college. 1 Unfortunately, Mr. Griffen's courtship with Psi Chapter was interrupted by allegations of physical and verbal abuse. In October 2005, Mr. Griffen and other Fraternity "aspirants" were summoned to the Psi Chapter's fraternity house by members of the Psi Chapter in order to study and prepare for fraternity activities. Sharon Ostroff versus Alterra Healthcare
Sharon Ostroff, individually and as power of attorney for Lillian Restine, her mother, has filed suit against Alterra Healthcare Corporation ("Alterra") for personal injuries suffered by Restine while she was a resident at an assisted living facility operated by Alterra. Defendant has moved to compel arbitration pursuant to an agreement signed by plaintiff Ostroff.
